Just In: IGP Adamu orders police to crush IPOB ‘ruthlessly’
The Nigerian Police authorities have ordered operatives to be ruthless in its approach against members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, gave the directive when he visited the scenes of yesterday’s carnage at Imo Police Command headquarters and Owerri Correctional Service on Tuesday.
In a development that has raised the temperature in the polity, both facilities were bombed after gunmen invaded the correctional centre freeing over 1,844 inmates in the process.
The presidency had described the attack as an act of terror, vowing to get on top of the situation before it snowballed into a national crisis.
And on Tuesday, Adamu ordered the police officers to deploy their weapons against the IPOB members and ensure that they are crushed to the last man.
