Idris Elba is about to become our favourite villain.
According to Variety, the rapper-DJ-actor is in final negotiations to play the main villain in “Hobbs and Shaw,” the “Fast and Furious” spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.
The spinoff reportedly will be directed by Deadpool 2 director, David Leitch, with Johnson and Statham continuing their roles as special agent Luke Hobbs and criminal mastermind Deckard Shaw. The script is written by “Fast and Furious” architect Chris Morgan, and production is set to commence this fall.
Recall that the news of this spinoff surfaced last year, triggering an intense one-sided fight between Tyrese Gibson and Johnson, with the singer accusing the wrestler-actor of selling out.
Anyways, the execs of the franchise were pleased with Statham and Johson’s chemistry in 2017’s “The Fate of the Furious,” hence why the spinoff was developed.
It reportedly will hit theaters on July 26, 2019.
We can’t wait!
