The presidential flagbearer for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has assured Nigerians that there would be no delay in naming his cabinet if elected president in 2019.
Atiku said this in a tweet on Friday, hours after he reportedly picked the former Governor of Anambra State, Dr Peter Obi as his running mate.
“If Nigerians elect me as their President, I will not take six months before naming my cabinet. My cabinet will be ready before May 29, 2019, if by the grace of God, you elect me.
“Our country needs a decisive leader to get Nigeria working again,” he said.

Atiku’s take comes as Nigerian professionals call for presidential aspirants to name their cabinets before the general elections to prevent the delay experienced in 2015 when incumbent president Muhammadu Buhari took seven months to name his ministers.
It’s been a busy week for Atiku since he won the PDP nomination, as he got the blessings of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, a day before picking Obi as his running mate.
