Hilary Duff is catching a lot of flak on social media after her followers noticed that her 8-month-old daughter, Banks, has her ears pierced in Duff’s latest Instagram post.
“Mama and (Strawberry),” Duff captioned a smiling black-and-white picture of herself and Banks, her first child with 32-year-old musician fiancé, Matthew Koma.
In the photo, Banks is sporting tiny stud earrings, accessories she wasn’t wearing when Duff shared their photo last month. And this triggered outrage from mum-shamers who accused the actress of inflicting “unnecessary pain” on her child, of “child abuse.”
“I can’t fathom why you would you think it’s okay to have your daughters ears pierced. Causing her a tremendous amount of pain and discomfort,” user _katebentley__ said. “And tell me how did it make you feel sitting there and watching her have pain inflicted on her unnecessarily?”
Another, @tee_ciullo wrote, “Just wondering how she gave you consent to pierce her ears? unfollowing.”

The actress had yet to respond to the outrage as at press time.
