The world is celebrating Hannah Beachler for her win at the 2019 Oscars, where she became the first black woman to win the award for the best production design.
And this comes just as Ruth E. Carter also became the first black woman to win for best costume design. Both women got these recognitions for their work on “Black Panther.”
In Beachler’s acceptance speech, she thanked the director of “Black Panther,” Ryan Coogler, Marvel, and Rachel Morrison, the film’s cinematographer, for their support.
“I give the strength to all of those who come next, to keep going, to never give up,” Beachler said through tears. “And when you think it’s impossible, just remember to say this piece of advice I got from a very wise woman: I did my best, and my best is good enough.”
Congratulations to her!
