Govt Officials Condemn Hate Speech yet Sponsor Attacks on Opponents – Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani says some people in government are bothered about hate speech and incitement, yet they pay some media users to attack and defame others.

In a Twitter post on Saturday, the senator representing Kaduna Central said those people in government preach against hate speech and incitement yet keep an army of social media influencers on their payrolls to malign and defame perceived opponents.

“Some people in Government are so disturbed and concerned about hate speeches and incitement on social media, while at the same time maintaining and paying an army of social media spins who are daily attacking, maligning and defaming others,” the afro-wearing senator tweeted.

Sani’s tweet was posted bare a day after Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna state, threatened to sue the senior pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), Dr Paul Enenche over alleged incitement.

While Sani did not mention names, he and El-Rufai have been having a running battle in the north-west state.
