Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has finally announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His announcement comes after months of speculation that the governor will return to the PDP as a result of his disenchantment with leaders of the APC in Benue and at the national level.
Ortom earlier rescinded his decision to defect after a meeting with the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole.
But a wave of defections in the APC and the inability to find a common ground with the ruling party has seen him cross-carpet to the PDP
His defection follows major political decisions in the state that saw him sack over 80 percent of his cabinet members.
It also comes as the Benue House of Assembly impeached Mr. Terkimbi Ikyange as its Speaker.
