Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, will appear before the seven-man committee investigating bribery allegation levelled against him on Friday.
A source within the committee said they had extended an invitation to the governor on Wednesday night, where he will make his defence against the damning video evidence that sees him accepting bribes from an unidentified contractor.
The Kano State House of Assembly had set up a seven-man committee headed by Honourable Baffa Babba DanAgundi to investigate the authenticity or otherwise of video clips that have now gone viral.
The committee had last week invited Ja’afar Ja’afar, publisher and editor-in-chief of Daily Nigeria, an online newspaper that released the video clips.
The publisher had testified before the committee and tendered written statement and copies of the video clips to the committee, insisting they were authentic.
Ganduje had threatened to sue the publication for the clips, but has since beaten a retreat after several other videos were released, with the governor’s voice on them.
