Actor Mark Salling Who Pleaded Guilty to Child Pornography Dies of Apparent Suicide

Mark Salling is dead.

According to EW, the former Glee star died of apparent suicide.

“I can confirm that Mark Salling passed away early this morning,” the actor’s lawyer, Michael J. Proctor, told to media house in a statement, adding, “Mark was a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgment. He is survived by his mother and father, and his brother. The Salling family appreciates the support they have been receiving and asks for their privacy to be respected.”

TMZ corroborated the suicide story, adding that authorities found Salling’s body in a riverbed in Sunland, California, where he lived.

Salling rose to fame for his role as Puck on Glee from 2009 to 2015. His troubles began after as he was set to play a role in the film Gods and Secrets but was arrested in December 2015 after authorities discovered more than 25,000 images and 600 videos depicting child pornography on his computers and thumb drives.

Salling was named in a two-count indictment in May 2016 for receiving porn involving young girls, and he struck a plea deal in October 2017 which carried sentence of four to seven years.

He plead guilty in December, registered as a sex offender and entered a treatment programme.

His sentencing was scheduled to hold this coming March, but he was found dead today.
