A former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Aloysius Iyorgyer Katsina-Alu, is died.
He was aged 76, and would have been 77 on August 28.
A source who confirmed his passing at an Abuja hospital on Wednesday morning said “sad news has struck for the Tiv Nation today”.
Katsina-Alu, a native of Benue State, succeeded Idris Legbo Kutigi as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in December 2009 during the saga over the ill health of former President Umaru Yar’Adua.
He headed the country’s judiciary until his retirement in August 2011.
