Former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Idris Kutigi, has died at 79.
According to family sources, Justice Kutigi died on Saturday at a hospital in London following a brief illness.
Born on December 31, 1939, in Kutigi, Lavun Local area of Niger State, the former CJN served as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Niger State before he was appointed High Court judge.
He joined the Supreme Court in 1992 and was appointed as the CJN on January 30, 2007, a position he held until December 30, 2009.
His death has been described as a great loss to the legal profession and the entire country by Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello of Niger State.
