Enyimba FC got their CAF Confederations Cup back on track with a 1-0 victory over Williamsville Athletic Club of Ivory Coast in Port-Harcourt Wednesday.
Nigeria’s sole representatives in the competition, Enyimba already had a win and loss from their opening two games – a 2-0 victory over Djoliba of Mali and a 0-3 reverse to CARA Brazzaville.
But Ibrahim Mustapha solo effort led to the only goal of the encounter in the seventh minute as the Peoples Elephant returned to the top of the log on six points.
There were a couple of chances as the game threatened to go out of control late on and the home side were spared the agony of dropping points after Williamsville’s Folorunsho Olatunji’s downward header bounced narrowly wide at the goal line.
Their next match in the competition is the return leg clash against Williamsville on July 9, 2018.
