Drake has finally opened up about his beef with Pusha T and Kanye West during an eye-opening interview with LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s new HBO Sports series, Shop.
Recall that Kanye denied that he was the bird who whispered Drake’s secrets to his rival Pusha T and tried to make peace with the Toronto rapper.
Now, in this new interview, Drake speaks about Kanye’s role in the messy feud with Pusha-T. According to him, the feud started after he told Kanye private information about his “secret” son while working with the Chicago rapper during a recording session in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
“I’m in Wyoming. I play him ‘March 14.’ I send him a picture of my son. I tell him I’m having trouble with my son’s mother,” says Drake, who planned on revealing that he had a son on the “March 14” track.
And shocking, Pusha T who works with Kanye, used the details to diss Drake in The Story of Adidon.
“I knew something was gonna come up about my kid. They had to add the deadbeat dad thing to make it more appealing,” Drake continues, adding that he was more infuriated about Pusha T “wishing death upon” his producer Noah “40” Shebib, who has multiple sclerosis.
He further spoke about Kanye being jealous of his success because he believes that Kanye intentionally planned to drop G.O.O.D. Music’s five recent releases — from Pusha-T, West, Nas, Kids See Ghosts, and Teyana Taylor — to coincide with the release of Scorpion.
The conversation veered off his beef with the G.O.O.D. music rappers to the challenges of growing up in a broken home. “I am a single father learning to communicate with a woman who, you know, we’ve had our moments, right. I do want to be able to explain to my son what happened, but I don’t have any desire for him to not love his mom,” Drake explains. “We found ourselves in a situation and we are both equally responsible. Now I’m just really excited to be a great father.”
