Don Jazzy Speaks Up After YCee Calls Out Former Record Boss of Ripping Off Artistes

Don Jazzy has taken to his Twitter to address the ongoing controversy about record label owners who rip off their artistes.

The drama started yesterday after the CEO of rapper YCee’s former record label, Tinny Entertainment, revealed that his artistes, both past and present, had garnered over 100 million streams across all streaming platforms.

Many people congratulated him, but shortly after, YCee took to his Instagram to expose the record boss of breach of contract. “Let it be known to the general public that not a single dime generated from those streams got into the pocket of any of the artistes responsible for the content that generated those streams,” he wrote.

He continued, “The only thing the CEO is grateful for is the fact that he has yet again, seemingly gotten away with profiting off of other people’s sweat, like he has been well known to do many times in the past.”

And he said a lot more. Read it here.

His post stirred a heated conversation, with some fans asking Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy to confirm if such was the practice in the industry.

“Yes the artist is supposed to earn from his/her streaming income. I have answered you sir can u answer me too? Pls have u heard any complaints from my own artists/staffs about not getting paid?” said Don Jazzy.

And he continued, “No be say na mouth. I keep hearing entertainers are not serious blah blah blah. I can proudly say I have over 35 staffs and for 7 years of MAVIN. I never owe salary. Not all your serious companies can say that sha.”
