Michelle Williams has taken to her Instagram to speak about her health.
The Destiny’s Child singer, who has been open about her struggles with depression, revealed she had checked in to a mental health facility. “For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing,” she wrote.
Adding, “I recently listened to the same advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals. Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for betterment of those in need.”
TMZ reports that the singer is being treated at a facility outside of Los Angeles. And this comes almost a year after she went on The Talk to speak about the feelings of sadness she felt at the peak of her career. At that time, she sought help and reached out to her then-manager Matthew Knowles. “When I disclosed it to our manager at the time,” she recalled, “bless his heart, he was like, ‘You all just signed a multi-million dollar deal. You’re about to go on tour. What do you have to be depressed about?'”
Well, things got worse and now Michelle is seeking help.
Her post quickly stirred reactions from friends and fans, including Beyonce’s mum Tina Knowles, who commented, saying, “Michelle My Belle, I ‘m so proud of you! You have given unselfishly of your time and support to so many and I know that you will be the best example of self-care, which we all need. Keep being a warrior and an advocate for you. I love and support you with all my being.”
