This weekend’s Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool would be a special event for Nigerian football fans as they will get the opportunity of meeting ex-Argentina striker Hernan Crespo.
According to TheNation, the 42-year-old former goal machine will watch the Champions League final in Nigeria on Saturday, alongside former Nigeria internationals, Daniel Amokachi, Jay Jay Okocha and Austine Eguaveon.
The legends will line up at a designated viewing centre in Lagos State for the event, where they would answer questions from fans as they watch Cristiano Ronaldo go head to head with Mohammed Salah of Liverpool at 7: 45pm (Nigerian Time).
Crespo, part of the Argentina side that lost the Atlanta 1996 Olympics final to Nigeria, scored over 300 goals in a career spanning 19 years.
At international level, Crespo, who played in three Fifa World Cups, scored 35 goals for Argentina to make him the third highest goalscorer behind Gabriel Batistuta and Lionel Messi.
He was once the world’s most expensive player after moving from Parma to SS Lazio in 2000 for a reported fee of €56 million (£35.5 million).
The Argentine was top scorer in the 2000–01 Serie A season with 26 goals playing for Lazio.
