The management of Chrisland School has come under fire after it released a statement addressing the story of its supervisor who allegedly raped a 2-year-old pupil.
According to NAN, 47-year-old Adegboyega Adenekan was arraigned before the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court for ‘defilement of a child’, and during the proceedings, the video of the victim describing in detail how Adenekan raped her was played. It is heartbreakingly graphic.
You can read all about it here.
Shortly after court ended, the management of the school sent out letters to parents, in which they seemingly defended the supervisor and accused the media of trying to tarnish their brand. They clearly do not believe that a child could be abused under their care, and also, questioned the integrity of the victim’s mother.
Interestingly, the school is said to have employed the services of a SAN to defend the supervisor in the court.

This has triggered outrage on social media as many Nigerians are dragging the school for filth, while others have called for a boycott. See some of the reactions:
Dear Chrisland, the PR attempt is unfortunate to say the least. Do you have a corporate communications unit, or a PR expert? You'd be better served to engage the services of one.
Alienation of the supposed victim and overt concern about your brand shows lack of empathy.

After reading this Chrisland statement, it's clear that it's not by how much you pay that determines the standards of a school
Utterly shocking show of irresponsibility pic.twitter.com/Fo24PpupyO

We also wondered why she left the child in school for a month, if indeed she was molested in the same school – Chrisland
This is the worst response I have ever seen.

This is why Chrisland appointed a SAN. It is about their image. Instead of jumping straight into action they were concerned about the parent’s motives. Pathetic https://t.co/9Hr3t1UOoV

Chrisland clearly hired one of these political Twitter activists as their PR person. You can see same approach of “attack the messenger while ignoring the issues”, same tone of deny first, then promise to investigate, same MO you see on Naija #socialmedia platforms everyday https://t.co/AOruGxxzMw

Utter rubbish my brother. They’re trying to protect their image at all cost. That’s what I sense here.
“Investigations” initiated by Chrisland, conducted by the NPF. Surely nothing would be found

Chrisland School had yet to react to the outrage as at press time.
