Chelsea v Barca: Mikel Obi tips Blues for Glory

Nigeria midfielder Mikel Obi is confident that former club Chelsea can still qualify for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League despite playing a 1-1 draw with Barcelona in the first-leg round of 16 clash at Stamford Bridge last Tuesday.

Lionel Messi scored his first ever goal against the Blues, sweeping home from inside the area to cancel out Willian’s opener in a gripping contest at Stamford Bridge.

The precious away goal sees Barca as slight favourites to advance when both sides lock horns in the return-leg at the Camp Nou March 14.

But former Blues holding midfielder Mikel believes Chelsea can replicate their 2012 semi-final heroics where they came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Nou Camp before going on to win their first ever European Cup

“I played for Chelsea for 11 years and that comeback I will remember for the rest of my life,” Mikel, who spent a decade at the London club, told Tianjin Today’s Evening News.

“Obviously I will continue to support Chelsea as always and hopefully they will go through into the next round.

Messi and co may have other thoughts though…
