There was pandemonium in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital, on Monday evening as another man was murdered by unidentified gunmen.
The broad daylight killing of the yet-to-be-identified man came barely three days after a close ally of former governor Segun Oni, Bunmi Ojo was assassinated in the capital.
Witnesses said the man was shot at a junction close to the end of the newly constructed overhead bridge at the Okesa/Ojumose Area of the town just before dusk.
According to the witnesses, the victim, who was said to be a passenger on a commercial motorcycle, was allegedly chased down to the area where he was later killed by his assailants.
It is understood that the killers, who also came to the scene on another Okada, ordered the operator of the commercial motorcycle conveying the victim to stop at the spot where he was killed and sped-off immediately they achieved their aim.
The body of the shot passenger was later moved to an undisclosed hospital by sympathisers as he bled profusely.
The incident led to sudden closure of many shops in and around the Bisi Market located close to the area, even as many residents who either witnessed or got wind of the killing hurriedly left for their homes.
Spokesman for the Ekiti State Police Command, Caleb Ikechukwu, said they’ll issue a statement on the murder soon.
