All the hullabaloo over Zlatan Ibrahimovic returning for the World Cup ended Tuesday as Sweden coach Janne Andersson named a 23-man World Cup squad that did not include the big striker.
After his sensational start to life at the MLS with LA Galaxy, Ibra had sparked a clamour for a return to the Swedish squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia after they memorably knocked out big guns Italy in a two-legged playoff in November.
The former Juventus, AC Milan, Barcelona and Manchester United striker also stoked the fires by saying the World Cup wouldn’t be the same without him during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel show.
But Sweden coach Andersson has dashed any hopes of seeing the enigmatic forward in Russia by dropping him from his squad Tuesday.
