Buhari Returns to Abuja after 6-day China Trip

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday night arrived Abuja, the nation’s capital after a six-day visit to China.

President Buhari was in Beijing, China with some members of his cabinet where he participated in the seventh summit of China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

He was also accompanied on the trip by his wife, Aisha, to participate in a Spouses’ Programme on China-Africa at the Great Hall of the People, under the theme, ‘‘Joining Hands for a Future of AIDS.’’

During his trip to China, the President participated in a meeting with business groups whom he asked to take advantage of the improved business environment in Nigeria and invest in key sectors of the economy.

Buhari also solicited the assistance of the Chinese government towards the construction of the Mambilla Hydropower Project in Taraba State, which he said he had a lot of faith in.

On Saturday, he and Mr Xi witnessed the signing of an agreement worth $328m between Nigeria and China.

The concessional loan agreement was sealed between Galaxy Backbone Limited and Huawei Technologies Limited (HUAWEI) for the Information and Communication Technology Infrastructure Backbone Phase II (NICTIB II) project.

While the president was away, a support group purchased the APC presidential nomination form on his behalf.
