British paedophile football coach Barry Bennell has been jailed for 31 years for subjecting dozens of young boys to various degrees of abuse.
Bennell, 64, who worked at Manchester City and Crewe Alexandra, was sentenced for 50 counts of child sexual abuse against 12 boys aged eight to 15, between 1979 and 1991.
Earlier today the vile pervert sat with his arms folded as he heard a number of harrowing statements from his victims.
One victim who read a statement to the court said: “Not a day goes by without thinking about the abuse I received. I was just a child.”
The disgraced former coach wore a blue jumper and white polo shirt as he was sentenced for hundreds of historical sexual assaults against young boys in his care.
Judge Goldstone QC, described Bennell as “the devil incarnate” as he jailed him for 30 years. He will spend one year on licence.
He said: “Your behaviour towards these boys in grooming and seducing them before subjecting them to, in some cases, the most most serious, degrading and humiliating abuse was sheer evil.”
He said Bennell had appeared to his victims as a God but added: “In reality, you were the devil incarnate.
“You stole their childhoods and their innocence to satisfy your own perversion.”
Bennell was convicted of 50 child sexual offences at Liverpool Crown Court, but it is believed he may have more than 100 victims in total as an additional 86 complainants have come forward to say they too were abused by him in one of the biggest scandals to rock British football.
