Senator Dino Melaye, has arrived Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, where he’s due to be arraigned for criminal charges.
The senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly was conveyed in an ambulance by the police authorities and is due to appear before the Federal High Court, Lokoja later in the day.
In a statement yesterday, the police said Melaye is being arraigned for an alleged criminal conspiracy, causing damage to government property, attempted suicide and escape from lawful custody.
His arraignment today follows his discharge from the National Hospital after he was confirmed fit for trial.
Melaye jumped out of a moving police vehicle on April 24 after a tussle with the police as he refused to be conveyed to Kogi State for his trial.
Last weekend, the embattled lawmaker had an attempt to recall him from the National Assembly after the verification exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fell flat.
He has accused the Kogi State Govenror, Yahaha Bello of being behind his travails, claims that have been debunked by the governor.
