Breaking: APC Ward Chairmanship Aspirant Stabbed to Death in Delta

The All Progressives Congress ward congress turned fatal after a chairmanship aspirant in Jeremi Ward 10 (III), Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Jeremiah Oghoveta, was stabbed to death.

Oghoveta reportedly stabbed on the neck near God’s Grace Ministry at Okwagbe Town Saturday afternoon.

The deceased, in his late thirties, was stabbed by a younger brother of one the leaders of the party in the area before the arrival of materials for the exercise, Punch writes.

The motive for the gruesome murder remains unclear as members of the party had reached agreement on how the exercise should be organised.

Though voting began late in the various local government areas across the state, there have been no reports of skirmishes.

Apart from the murder in Ughelli, the exercise was described as “generally peaceful” by state an APC leader, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, who voted at his Evwreni country home.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari returned to his country home in Daura today to take part in the congress as the party gears up for the 2019 general elections.
