The town of Oviri Olomu in Delta State was thrown into mayhem weekend after a 16-year-old boy, identified as Miracle Oborah, reportedly shot dead his stepfather after a quarrel.
The teenager who is reportedly a member of a cult killed his 47-year-old stepfather in the latter’s farmland and disappeared into the bush afterwards.
Daily Post reports that the deceased went to his farmland but the teenager followed him and when got to the farm, a quarrel ensued that allegedly resulted in the suspect slapping him and later pulled a gun and shoot him in the stomach.
Confirming the reports, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka said: “The police are on the trail of the suspect, he disappeared into the bush after he committed the crime, the police will ensure he is brought to book.
“He had a quarrel with his stepfather who tried to make him responsible when he pulled a gun to kill him.”
A source in the community, simply identified as Kelvin said that the 16-year-old suspect is reportedly the leader of a cult group in the community.
He said, “His mother had him for a different man before marrying the farmer and since he came to the community he had never been responsible rather he is known for evil and in company of cultists, he had allegedly threatened to kill the farmer before now.”
DSP Aniamaka also disclosed that the corpse of the victim was deposited at the General Hospital mortuary at Otu Jeremiah, adding that no stone will be left unturned to arrest all those linked to the crime including the prime suspect.
