Ofu Obekpa, a U.S. based Nigerian filmmaker, has held a media screening for his latest film captioned “Klippers” ahead of its August 10 cinema release.
Obekpa, who starred in the Hollywood blockbuster Black Panther, told newsmen during the screening at Ozone Cinema, Yaba, Lagos, that he is positive the movie will be a success in Nigeria.
“Beyond the storyline, this is one film I am certain that many Nigerians especially in the diaspora can relate to on many levels. The actors are natural and in their elements throughout the movie. The dialogue is laced with a lot of Nigerian anecdotes and everyday language which makes for an interesting watch.”
Obekpa, a trained martial artist, did an amazing job choreographing the fight scenes in the movie, Hollywood style.
The storyline represents a break from the norm in Nollywood, complete with the deployment of ‘proper props’ and locations to bring the script to life.
The all-star cast include Hollywood Celebrities: WWE lcon Kevin Nash, Nigerian International Conphidance, Award winning actress; Libby Blanton and Robert Pralgo (Furious 7, Avengers: Infinity war) leaves the viewer wanting more.
Obekpa, who worked as a production assistant in Captain America: Civil War and also starred in Black Panther as one of the King’s guards, said he shied away from acting in the past.
After its Nigerian run, ‘Klippers’ which is powered by Skyrunner Productions, will also be screened in Czech Republic, Japan, France, Russia, Poland, Brazil and Spain.
