Belgium beat England in World Cup Playoff

Belgium put aside their semifinal disappointment by beating England 2-0 in the World Cup third-place play-off in Saint Petersburg Saturday.

Thomas Meunier opened the scoring with just four into the game, and despite dominating much of the play, the Red Devils had to wait until the 82nd minute to settle the bronze medal match, Eden Hazard converting a wrecking pass from playmaker Kevin De Bruyne.

The victory in what is considered the cruellest game of the tournament represents Belgium’s best finish at a World Cup, while England can take consolation in the golden boot winner harry kane and the promise of the young cubs.
