Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema inspired a fightback from Real Madrid as they claimed a 4-1 win over Girona having trailed in the first half.
Borja Garcia stunned the European champions by shooting his side ahead after 17 minutes, making the most of some slack defending in the Real Madrid defence as the hosts enjoyed a dominant opening half.
But Los Blancos were awarded a way back into the match when Marco Asensio was fouled in the box, giving captain Sergio Ramos the chance to convert from the spot.
And the visitors were awarded another penalty kick for another foul on Asensio in the second half, with Benzema this time converting from the spot for his first goal of the season.
It was all Real Madrid from there on, with Bale surging clear on the counter attack to add his name to the scoresheet just before the hour mark.
And the Welshman turned provider with 10 minutes left to play, crossing for Benzema to fire home his second of the night and Real’s fourth.
The victory takes Julen Lopetegui’s men level on points with champions Barcelona who scrapped to a 1-0 victory over Real Valladolid on Saturday.
