Canadian rapper, Jon James McMurray, died in a rather devastating manner after falling off the wing of a plane while shooting a music video.
His manager, Ryan Desrochers, said the rapper had trained “intensively” for the stunt, which eventually went awfully wrong during filming in British Columbia on Saturday.
During the shoot, as he moved farther out on to a wing, the small Cessna went into a downward spiral. McMurray held on to the wing too long and by the time he let go he didn’t have time to open his parachute.
In a statement, Desrochers explained the 34-year-old rapper had trained “intensively” for the stunt, which saw him rap while walking on the wing of a plane.
“As Jon got further out onto the wing of the plane, it caused the small Cessna to go into a downward spiral that the pilot couldn’t correct,” the statement read.
“Jon held onto the wing until it was too late and, by the time he let go, he didn’t have time to pull his chute. He impacted and died instantly.”
“His passion for making music videos and performing stunts were combined, and Jon pushed music in a new direction that was uncharted territory”
