Coach of Banyana Banyana of South Africa, Desiree Ellis, is sure that her team will beat the Super Falcons of Nigeria when both sides clash in the final of the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations in Accra, Ghana on Saturday.
Bayana Bayana lost 1-0 to the Super Falcons in the semifinal at Cameroon 2016 edition of the African Women’s Nations Cup, and they got some measure of revenge by beating Nigeria in their first Group B game at the Cape Coast Stadium.
And after watching the Super Falcons struggle to overcome Cameroon in Tuesday’s semifinal, Ellis says she would come up with a different formation that will be difficult for the Nigeria coach, Thomas Dennerby, and his crew to interpret on Saturday.
Ellis told South Africa media yesterday that she was excited to pick the ticket to France 2019 World Cup, but she would do everything possible to add the AWCON title on Saturday.
She is banking on strikers, including Thembi Kgatlana, who scored their first goal against Mali on Tuesday, her fifth goal of the competition, to do the damage against the Super Falcons in the final and clinch a first AWCON trophy for South Africa.
But Nigeria coach Dennerby has assured that his side will be very focused on retaining the cup having already booked a ticket for the Women World Cup.
