Maryam Awaisu is free.
This was confirmed witnesses who said that she has regained freedom after she was unjustly whisked away the officers of SARS at her office in Kaduna.
In case you missed it: the activist launched the viral #ArewaMeToo movement which saw many women coming forward to share heartbreaking stories of rape and various forms of sexual assault. And things took a different turn after one of the men fingered petitioned the police, resulting in Awaisu’s arrest.
Her arrest drew nationwide attention, with the Nigerian chapter of Amnesty International ordering the Nigerian Police to immediately release the activist.
And she is now free.
