Mahmud Halilu Ahmed, a younger brother to Wife of the Nigeria’s president, Aisha Buhari has joined governorship race in Adamawa state.
In a move that sent ripples in the public, Halilu’s picture with President Muhammadu Buhari holding his party nomination is splattered across the north-east state.
“The president ought to be a father to all aspirants. He should take photos with all other aspirants”, lamented a party member who did not want his name published.
At a formal declaration of his gubernatorial ambition in Yola on Monday, Mahmud known as Modi accused Governor Muhammadu Jibrilla of dishonesty and neglect of all sectors.
He decried the suffering to which the electorate in the state were subjected due to lack of leadership capacity and insincerity of the present administration.
According to the President’s brother-in-law, he will work with the party (APC) executives and other stakeholders to correct the ills.
In his remark, the state party chairman, Ibrahim Bilal assured all aspirants of justice and fair play at the primaries.
But many aren’t overly concerned with his interest, saying he is a political lightweight with little support base in the state.
