Adeosun Resignation: Buhari Appoints Zainab Ahmed to Ministry of Finance

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, to oversee the Ministry of Finance with immediate effect.

This comes in the wake of the resignation of Kemi Adeosun from the ministry after months of uncertainty over her National Youths Service Corps certificate forgery scandal.

The President accepted the resignation on Friday, as confirmed in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, said.

As the scandal simmered, the Presidency wrote the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) demanding a thorough probe of the alleged exemption certificate forgery

Premium Times had reported that the Minister who graduated from London East Polytechnic at the age of 22 in 1989, failed to comply with NYSC Act, which made it compulsory for every Nigerian graduate at home or abroad to participate in one year of mandatory service to the nation.

  1. I”msorry but that ”s not how the law works. Intent matters. It has always mattered and will always matter. As long as she followed the correct process to obtain the paperwork, I would not hold anyone responsible for getting fake paper in Naija because if you go into an office and pay them yourself, they can still give you fake receipt and fake paperwork and turn around and keep the money. Our country is a mess. . Let”s not ask others to meet up with impossible standards. How was she to know the things was fake. Btw perhaps the moral of this whole story is nysc needs to clarify their rules. There”s a comment above mine from someone who”s above 40 and her “friends told her she has to do NYsc. I don”t think that”s correct. Where can one find official nysc rules and avoid this saga
