No fewer than seven persons have been killed after suspected herdsmen raided a church in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State in the wee hours of Thursday.
The rampaging herdsmen were said to have stormed Mbamondo clan around 12.20am and descended on some displaced persons who had taken refuge at an African Church in the area, killing seven of them.
A resident of the community, who gave his name as Umishi said that among those killed were: Festus Terdue Aguda, Mama Doom Uhule Oragbai, Shiaondo Tamen Tordue,TamenIorbume Shima, Mr Suur and several others.
In a chat with newsmen, Richard Nyajo, Chairman to the council, said many houses were also razed during the pre-dawn attack.
The attack on Mbamondo comes bare hours after the brutal raid on a Catholic church in Gwer that left two priests and 17 worshippers dead.
It’s been a bloody week for the north-central state as herdsmen have intensified their attacks on villages, killing over 100 and sacking numerous communities.
So far, there’s been no reports of arrest as frightened residents vacate their homes.
