At least five persons have been killed, several others injured and houses burnt down in another attack by suspected herdsmen in Plateau State.
The gunmen attacked Nkiendoro village of Bassa Local Government Area of the state on Thursday night, barely 24 hours after 19 persons were killed in Ariri Village of the same local government.
Among the five who were killed was a member of the Nigerian Army’s special task force, Operation Safe Haven.
The spokesman of the Operation Safe Haven, Major Umar Adamu, said that the officer died while exchanging fire with the attackers.
Adamu further stated that security personnel are currently liaising with the community to fish out perpetrators of the attack.
He also appealed to the residents of the community to always be on the alert and report suspicious movements in the area.
The attack comes with the state still reeling from a crisis in the capital Jos that saw several killed and the city ground to a halt.
Many have blamed the frequent skirmishes in the state on the repeated attacks by herdsmen.
