A clash between two schools has left about 31 students injured in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
The schools are Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Buni gari and Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Damaturu.
The nasty incident was confirmed by an official at the specialist hospital Damaturu, who told Daily Trust that about seven students sustained severe injuries.
“We registered 31 injured students, after efforts by our medical team, we treated and discharged 24, admitted 3 and referred 4 to the university teaching hospital for examination”.
Confirming the incident, the Commissioner for Education, Muhammad Lamin, said the two sets of students had a little misunderstanding that led a fight.
“The incident happened very early morning before breakfast, and most of these girls had not eaten, so, they became exhausted. We only took them to hospital for proper checkups. They were certified fit and returned to school. So, it’s far from the truth that these students ate poison.” he said.
He dismissed the rumour that their children took poison, and called on parents to remain calm.
