Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is on the verge of a stunning transfer to Premier League rivals Arsenal, British media report.
Mata who scored a free-kick in United’s incredible 2-1 comeback victory over Juventus in the Champions League encounter Wednesday night, is set to finally quit the Red Devils as he struggles for playing time under manager Jose Mourinho.
The 30-year-old’s contract with United will expire at the end of the season and sources say the former Valencia playmaker could leave Old Trafford as a free agent to join Arsenal.
Arsenal, under Spanish manager Unai Emery, are yet to confirm that the 30-year-old is about to move to the North London club.
Mata meanwhile, will hope to feature for United when they take on Manchester City in the Premier League derby clash at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
United have been revived in recent weeks, and will look to upset their stylish neighbours as they did at the Etihad last season.
