Former military dictator Gen Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd) has commended Alhaji Tanimu Turaki, a presidential aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for coming up with “a well-articulated development agenda” which he said is capable of transforming the country.
Babangida said this when he hosted the aspirant at his hilltop residence in Minna, on Tuesday.
IBB, who has been courted by several PDP presidential aspirants including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, said Turaki’s roadmap could lead Nigeria to prosperity.
Turaki, who was on a sensitisation visit to PDP stakeholders in Niger State, had laid out his agenda for tackling challenges such as insecurity, decline in the national economy as well as increasing unemployment among the youth before the former leader, while seeking his support for his presidential bid.
Babangida had earlier called for a generational shift in power, noting that the country needed fresh ideas to tackle the myriad of problems bedevilling it.
He said this in an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari voicing his disappointment over the state of affairs in the country in past couple of years.
