Yung Mazi is dead.
According to Heavy, the local Atlanta rapper was shot to death on Sunday night in Atlanta’s Kirkwood community. Earlier reports said the police responded to the shooting near the intersection of Oakview Road and Hosea L. Williams Drive, around 8:55 p.m. Sunday, and that the victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
In their statement, the police said they arrived the scene at a few minutes before 9 p.m. on August 6, 2017, and observed “a male who had been shot multiple times” near a pizza business. The victim died at the scene.
The police went on to add that “we believe the victim was targeted. We have very little to go on at this point in time.”
The victim was later confirmed to be Yung Mazi, who is signed to imprisoned rapper, Kevin Gates label. He died outside a pizza restaurant called Urban Pie, later reports added.
This sad story has stirred the hip hop community. Only a day ago, the rapper whose real name was Jibril A., posted this on his Instagram:
Yung Mazi was associated with top acts including Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan. Only seven months ago, he survived yet another gun attack.
“I just got shot up again,” he had said, “I been shot ten times, and I been going through physical therapy. I was just in a wheel chair,” he said back then, adding, “God made me bulletproof”.
Sadly, he is dead.
