We love how young Nigerian designers are fast taking fashion by the horns and actually ‘doing’ rather than just ‘talking’.
Joining the long list of fashion presentations for 2017 is Menswear label, Ninoropa Bespoke who just released its debut ready-to-wear collection for RAIN 2017 with its Lookbook Edits inspired by the Power and Essence of difference.
According to the brand’s creative director, Emmanuel Awinoren:
“the Non-Conformist range was born out of a revolutionary idea that sought to celebrate the uniqueness of being different and doing things differently as against stipulated norms, cliche’s and perspective …Inspired to create wearable wardrobe essentials still for the everyday man, the collection aligns with the brand’s vision for this season using its spin on Design and its rebel-like Presentation that preaches against societal and individual conformity in fashion…I allowed each garment experience and enjoy its own existence with each one journeying away from what’ is expected.”
A fight for individual freedom of expression without forgetting that he has to sell has got to be the most brilliant move by this young creative designer. Ninoropa Bespoke serves a minimalist yet adventurous protest memo against conformists fashion that shapes and boxes the man’s idea of what and how the society expects his image.
Using design techniques, fit, shapes and its presentation, the collection which carefully transforms wardrobe basics, boasts of very wearable pieces that cut across casual and formal, living in minimal-bright palettes.
We love this collection and we are here for it. Emmanuel Awinoren narrated his story with plausible convictions, juggled his creativity with business so much that we can see each piece hanging and selling in a retail store (our favorite being the boxy black linen jacket with off-white tux shawl lapel).
While we have shared our opinion, what are your thoughts on this collection? Hit or Miss, You be the Judge!
