Rapper Yung6ix is stirring mixed reactions on social media with a new Instagram video.
The 27-year-old rapper, real name Onome Onokohwomo, took to Instagram yesterday to recall how he was helped by a certain man 8 years ago when he was still trying to kick-start his music career.
According to Yung6ix, the man identified only by his IG handle @iamblackking gave him N10,000 to chase his dreams as an artiste and now that he is successful, he has decided to appreciate him.
The video showed the Kpansh rapper counting several dollar bills before handing it to his Samaritan friend, who excitedly hugged him. The man also shared the wad of money on his page and gave Yung6ix a shout out.
8 years ago @imblackking gave me 10,000 Naira to come to Lagos to chase my dream as an artiste, without that 10k there would be no Yung6ix today. Showed him I'm grateful by giving him 10,000 dollars today. Strictly for motivational purposes only. Don't just be great be grateful and don't forget those who helped you when you where nothing.
Omg !! I can't believe this.. @yung6ix just gave me my first birthday gift and it early its really a good year. This is a dream we saw so many years ago, and today we living it, it is not really about what you get when you do good, it is how you do good and not even think it was a favor, I can say I earned this today because we saw a Legend in the making. High Star King 6ix
Pretty awesome, right? Well, fans don’t seem to think so.
After posting the video, fans hopped on the post to condemn his public display of altruism. Many thought it would have been better if he hadn’t recorded the goodwill or shared it on social media.
But this fan sees it all differently.
Should he have made it a private affair?
