No fewer than15 people have been killed and properties destroyed as suspected Boko Haram terrorist attacked some villages close to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
In one of the villages targeted in the brutal attack Wednesday night – Kofa, the insurgents set ablaze the Imam of the village along with four members of his family.
According to residents who spoke to ChannelsTV, the imam and his family had stayed behind during the raid while others fled.
Other villages attacked by the terrorists are Abba Malumti, Gozari, and Dalori II Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, all in Konduga local government area of the state.
At the Abba Malumti and Dalori II IDP camps, no fewer than 10 persons were killed during the black night in Nigeria’s north east.
Unconfirmed reports also suggest that many others who fled the villages might have drowned in a river.
It is understood that security operatives on the ground were faced with superior firepower and outnumbered as over 200 insurgents reportedly came for the attack.
